Our Committment to Community

The Port Gamble Farmer's Market was created with our community in mind and we are so excited and humbled to be a part of such a wonderful and supportive community. The market was created to provide access between the incredibly talented makers and growers in our area to those who live here and want to support those small businesses within our community, but we believe it's not only our job, but our privilege to do so much more for our community.

Our first and immediatle goal is to provide a source of fun and community for local residents and families in our area and we're excited to do that each Sunday with a roster of unique local artisans and farmers in our charming historic town. Our long-term community goals include more out-reach and education programs and special events. As our first season draws to a close, we're excited to share some more information about a couple of amazing organizations that we have really enjoyed working with this summer and are looking forward to working with in the future, Rescue Every Dog and the Caring Clowns.
The Caring Clowns joined us for our first Kid's Day at the Market this Summer and were formed in 2001 after 4 members went to Vietnam, three of whom had served in the military during the Vietnam War. After seeing the needs of the disabled and poor, they started the non-profit to raise funds to significantly help improve the lives of poor children worldwide. Today they have over 40 clowns that bring smiles to children in our country and all over the world and are proud to give 90% of the donations and money they raise directly to kids in need.

Rescue Every Dog joined us for our first Doggy Day at the Market and for Kid's Day as well this season. They are a support group for shelter workers and exceptional animals in need in public animal shelters. For the exceptional animals, they provide the safe haven of home foster care, medical care, and spay/neutering; and seek loving lifetime homes for them. They are committed to education and community support on topics such as the benefits of spay/neuter, re-homing advice and assistance, and prevention of animal abuse and neglect.

We are so proud to work with both wonderful organizations and the people who dedicate their lives to their causes and are so looking forward to continuing to work with them. If you'd like to learn more about either organization or to donate money, click their links below:
